ATF and Pittsburgh are providing $ 15,000 in rewards resulting in the arrest of alleged McKeesport Police Gunner Koby Francis – CBS Pittsburgh

MCKEESPORT, PA (KDKA) – Rewards will be offered for information leading to the arrest of Koby Francis, the 22-year-old accused of shooting McKeesport officer Jerry Athans.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, in collaboration with the Allegheny County Police Department, is offering a reward of up to $ 10,000 for information leading to Francis’ whereabouts. County police say Richard Bazzy, owner of Shults Ford, is offering up to $ 5,000 for similar information.

An arrest warrant against Francis for murder, escape, escape, escape from concern, aggravated assault and firearms violations is pending. Police say he was last seen wearing a black hoodie, camouflage pants, and black white-soled shoes. The police say if you see him, call 911. He is considered armed and dangerous.
The situation began shortly before 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon when Francis received an order to prevent abuse at McKeesport Police Station.
According to the criminal complaint, the police were called to Harrison Village shortly afterwards, where “Francis was trying to get his toddler from a relative who was babysitting.”

Shortly before 4 p.m., the police were called to Yester Square again to initiate a violation of the PFA. When officers arrived at the scene, they said they saw Francis sitting in front of a house in his Ford Escape.
He was arrested.
Police say he also doesn’t have a valid driver’s license and they found out that a gun was found in the vehicle.
Once in Officer Athans’ police car, investigators say Francis is combative. The criminal complaint reported that he tried to throw out one of the vehicle’s windows.
Police at McKeesport Police Station say Officer Athans went to the passenger side to get Francis out of the vehicle. But then the shots rang out. Police say Francis was able to stretch his handcuffed hands in front of him.

Officer Athans initially suffered a gunshot wound in the neck. Then he circled for cover in front of the vehicle. The criminal complaint states: “Francis kept shooting Officer Athans and hit him twice more in the left shoulder.” Police say Officer Athans returned fire when Francis ran away.
Francis has since been on the run, and Officer Athans has been released from the hospital.
