CANFIELD – Optimal Health and Wellness, 584 E. Main St., celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony and an open house on Thursday.
Optimal Health and Wellness opened in a room in March and started IV therapy and injections.
Mahoning Valley-born proprietor Suzanne Cavalier graduated from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She received a Masters in Nursing from Youngstown State University in 2013. Cavalier graduated from Maryville University in 2017 with a post-master’s degree in nursing. She started her first job in March 2018 in a primary care practice in Lisbon.
“I knew I wanted to become a nurse and make time for my patients,” Cavalier said in a press release. “It was my goal to design the training in such a way that I or the patient didn’t feel rushed.”

WARREN – Columbia Care Inc. has signed an agreement to acquire Ohio-based Green Leaf Medical, 2932 Youngstown Road SE, for approximately $ 240 million with the potential for additional performance milestone payments.
Green Leaf was founded in 2014 by Philip Goldberg and Kevin Goldberg and is one of the largest private multi-state cannabis operators in the USA and the market leader in the mid-Atlantic region. state footprint.
Subject to regulatory approval, Columbia Care will be one of the largest cannabis operators in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia, according to a press release.

MVMC machinist program
receives Ohio TechCred approval
YOUNGSTOWN – The Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition’s machinist registered training program has been approved for TechCred funding.
The approval allows participating manufacturers to apply for TechCred government funding to reimburse apprenticeship and other training costs and to encourage investment in a more skilled workforce.
TechCred offers up to $ 2,000 in reimbursement for training costs per approved ID per student. Companies can claim reimbursement costs up to $ 30,000 per year if their application is successful.
“This is a great opportunity for employers considering hiring or training machinists in their workforce,” said Jessica Borza, general manager of MVMC, in a press release. “These sector-specific training programs cover some of the costs that employers would otherwise incur and provide employees with the skills to acquire industry-recognized qualifications. Employers can receive $ 4,000 for apprentices who complete their first year and up to $ 10,000 over the course of their training to easily cover training costs. “
Local businesses are invited to apply for TechCred funding and urged to act soon. The application window will open on January 4th and close on January 31st for training in 2021, although existing employees will be eligible to participate regardless of the start date. Pittsburgh Bank Awards
$ 1 million in grants to YNDC
YOUNGSTOWN – The Pittsburgh Federal Home Loan Bank’s Affordable Housing Program donated Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. recently awarded two grants totaling $ 1.1 million for housing development in Youngstown City.
One grant of $ 750,000 will be used to fully renovate five vacant affordable homes and the second grant of $ 409,032 will be used to build two new energy efficient, affordable rental units.
PNC is the member bank supporting YNDC’s application and works together on both projects.

BRITE Energy Innovators is looking for

WARREN – BRITE Energy Innovators is looking for teams or individual engineers, designers, developers, project managers, and students for BRITEhack 2021, its annual Civic Energy Hackathon, which addresses energy issues faced by municipal organizations.
The BRITEhack 2021 event will take place on January 29th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The participants spend the day in teams to develop innovative solutions for the challenge of the hybrid virtual event. This year, BRITE selected Trumbull Family Fitness as a challenge recipient. As a more than 100 year old community institution, TFF has to contend with debilitating energy costs due to outdated electrical systems. Gasoline prices are rising
11 cents in northeast Ohio
YOUNGSTOWN – The average gasoline price in Northeast Ohio is 11 cents higher this week, at $ 2.07 a gallon according to the AAA East Central gas price report.
The average price for self-serve unleaded gasoline in the Youngstown area is $ 2.04 per gallon.
