CLAIRTON, PA (KDKA) – 200 needy families in Clairton received free holiday meals on Saturday thanks to a partnership of local organizations.
Pennsylvania-based Columbia Gas, InfraSource, and the Clairton Police Department have collected the donations. With the help of the NiSource Charitable Foundation, Columbia Gas and InfraSource donated $ 10,000 to the Clairton Police Department to purchase the holiday meals to be distributed to families through volunteers.
“With replacements on the Columbia Gas Pipeline last year and decades of providing safe and reliable natural gas service in our area, over 30 full-time Columbia Gas employees and InfraSource contractors have become valued members of the Clairton community,” said Clairton Police Chief Robert Hoffman. “Columbia Gas and InfraSource construction management heard about our vacation plans to give back and asked if they could support and expand our reach.”
“After a year of feeling isolated in many ways, this collaborative effort in the town of Clairton is proof that we really are stronger when we come together,” said Mark Kempic, president of Columbia Gas. “We would like to thank the Clairton Police Department and InfraSource for including us in this opportunity to give back. We would like to contact the Greater Washington Food Bank for the donation of boxes so that we can deliver the holiday meals safely and efficiently. Last but not least, we would like to thank Comin ‘In Hot BBQ for their support in ordering the food. “
