City of Asylum was one of the first local nonprofits to get creative and consider programming events when they launched their community-based virtual platform The Show Must Go On (line) in response to the Covid shutdown in March. The Northside-based organization asked viewers to pick their favorite 2020 program. Watch the winning show stream with them on the City of Asylum @ Home virtual channel.

Monday December 21st: Holiday Cheers: A truly unique winery experience with Doors Open Pittsburgh

Did you know that there is an equally cool winery beneath Lawrenceville’s cool Clemente Museum? Don’t miss this virtual tour of Engine House 25 Wines led by winemaker Duane Rieder. Santa Claus is not only good at handing out gifts. During this virtual event, Kris Kringle will read Salina Yoon’s heartwarming winter-themed book “Penguin and Pine Cones: A Friendship Story” for children who will soon have visions of sugar plums in their heads. Register for free.
Tuesday, December 22nd: Spotlight + with film Pittsburgh

It’s the last night to stream the opening deals on Pittsburgh’s latest online series. Jesse Dylan’s documentary “Soros”, which examines the influential investor and philanthropist, and Benjamin Wolff’s short film “Til Equal”, the story of an “unspoken connection between two older neighbors”, can be seen. Wednesday, December 23: 412 Food Rescue and the Pittsburgh Aviation Animal Rescue Team’s food distribution at Heinz Field

Residents in need can drive to Heinz Field’s Gold Lot 1 parking lot, where volunteers will be handing out food boxes of products, milk and protein items, and bags of dog and cat food during the touchless drive-through giveaway.

Thursday December 24th: A Christmas musical broadcast with the Pittsburgh CLO

Curl up with a cozy blanket, turn the channel on WQED, and turn on the holidays. Richard Thomas, known for his award-winning role on the hit TV show “The Waltons”, is the inimitable Ebenezer Scrooge. The special production was recorded live at the Byham Theater in 2018 and also features a cast of Pittsburgh favorites.
