Keep entertained and completely satisfied through the COVID-19 Pandemic – CBS Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – It’s so easy to slip into a funk now when the Steelers are done, social distance, the weather and the worry of getting Covid. How do you reach the sun, the hope, the joy in your life?
When we took to the streets to ask, what are you missing the most in this pandemic? We received these answers:
“Seeing people’s emotions on their faces. Honestly, because I like to see people’s smiles and things like that and therefore not be able to see that it’s kind of sad. “
“Going out for dinner. We used to go out for dinner all the time and now we haven’t gone out since March. “
“Definitely go outside and enjoy the weather with people.”
“I only play basketball with friends. I like to play contact sports, and that’s pretty much a no-go for the whole time. “
“I miss live music. Play and listen to live music. “
“Enjoy the weather and go out to eat and enjoy the family that comes from out of town.”
“Hugging people.”
“We have to find more things to do, especially in January and February. It’s really hard.”
But how do you do that Well, our informal panel says they find joy in a variety of ways.
CLOCK: Find joy in times of COVID
“We played a lot of games, we set up some game boards, we played games.”
“I definitely enjoy my job of serving people.”
“Playing video games, little interaction with people, best for me.”
“The family has come close. We learned to go back to old habits and do things together and like the most important things like family. “
“I’ve become a great eater, I sure have gotten a lot better at it.”
“I work with my children in school and cook homemade meals and the like. I cook a lot, I cook a lot. “
“I started playing the piano a little again. I played when I was younger but not so much recently, but I started practicing. “
“I just spend time with my husband and take him (DOG) for walks and just enjoy everyday life and the fact that we are healthy and have a roof over our heads.”
Here are some other ideas you might consider to fill the days with something that will help break the covid funk.
- Exercise – good for your body and mind.
- Read – and to make it even more interesting, do it with someone else reading the same book, and then talk about it as you go.
- Increase your sleep – good for body and mind again.
- Redecorate your artificial Christmas tree – ideal for children, make homemade decorations.
- Clean up your home, rearrange your furniture, and make your bed every day.
- Cooking – try things you’ve never had before, do it with other people who are helping, and get your children involved.
- Vacation – plan a vacation or just dream vacation
- Take a ride – explore a place you’ve never been
- Smile and say “thank you” – even with a mask you can make someone’s day and your own.
Just a few ideas to keep in mind until we get to the other side of this pandemic.
Mental health experts also raise this thought, especially if you have children: remember, you are making memories.
Someday we will all look back on that time and tell stories about how we did it.
Be creative and the memories could bring a smile to your face!
