WASHINGTON (KDKA) – Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey announced on Sunday that he had received the COVID-19 vaccine.
“This morning I received the first dose of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine. I’ll be getting my second dose in about three weeks. I encourage all Americans, in consultation with their doctor, to receive the vaccine as soon as it becomes available, ”Senator Casey said in a statement.
Dr. Brian P. Monahan, the attending physician for the US Congress, issued a recommendation that all members of Congress receive the vaccine to ensure continuity of government.
Senator Casey has said he is working with the Trump administration to make sure Americans can get the vaccine on time.
“I will continue to urge the government to ensure that all Americans can get the vaccine in a timely manner and insist that vaccines are distributed fairly, especially in nursing homes where residents and workers are at acute threat from the virus . ”
