PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – When the snow began and continued to fall across the Pittsburgh area on Wednesday, it didn’t stop many Pittsburghers from enjoying the historic snowfall.

Several viewers posted pictures of them going outside and enjoying the winter wonderland.

Laura Wilson made a snowman to make sure that having fun in the snow wasn’t a reason to be out of safety.

“Frosty says, ‘Don’t forget your mask!'” She said.

Laura wasn’t the only person who used a snowman to remind people to stay safe.

Kathy Underwood and her kids put a mask on their snowman, but with a carrot nose it can be a little difficult to hide.

As the snow began to fall on Wednesday night, creating picturesque scenes across the region, in Zelienople Andrew Barclay took out his camera and captured some of the almost postcard-like scenes across town.

The Hoover family felt a little cooped up Wednesday night so they grabbed an old Steelers jersey and went to work building their own Steeler snowman!

Meanwhile, 16-month-old Tristan experienced his first snowfall on Wednesday in Jefferson Hills! While he seemed to be enjoying it at first, it was a surprise from Papa who seemed to change his mind.

As KDKA’s Ron Smiley told us this morning on your day in Pittsburgh, western Pennsylvania saw between 9 and 16 inches of snow.

For Wayne Kreiger of Farmington, Pennsylvania, however, it wasn’t a tape measure or yardstick he used to measure snowfall – it was a collection of drinks in his house!

“9.15pm update,” he posted on Facebook. “Got everyone in this one, 2 3/4 cans high and 1/5 high!”
