The Allegheny County, Pennsylvania Port Authority selected Fonda Duse earlier this month to take on the agency’s newly created position as Director of Diversity and Inclusion.

Duse will implement and lead an agency-wide strategy for equity and inclusion and program development. Analysis of current programs and strategies in order to propose improvements; and develop training programs to improve employee understanding of inclusion issues, government officials said in a press release.

“Creating this role was a critical step in identifying, addressing, and improving equity in our organization, and it won’t be the last,” said Katharine Kelleman, chief executive officer providing a safe, supportive, and productive environment for all of our employees and foster the community we serve. “

Duse has nearly two decades of HR experience. She has launched, developed and implemented diversity and inclusion initiatives for 11 organizations in five different industries, including transportation.

The Port Authority operates the 26-mile light rail system in Pittsburgh.
