After opening a retail store late last year, Tal & Bert is taking another big step in 2021 by adding a new headquarters.
The creators behind the Val and Ray Talbert, who mine the raw natural stones contained in the ships, opened the lifestyle store Tal & Bert Mercantile in Dormont in November.
Last week they announced they were leaving their mountain. Lebanon Studio – separate from the retail store – and opening of a new headquarters in Sharpsburg. In an announcement on Instagram, the couple stated that they had outgrown the mountain. Lebanon Studio.
“This space allows our production team, product design team, and fulfillment team to be under one roof, making room for each department to expand and hire,” the couple wrote.
Although the flagship store will remain in Dormont, the new location on Sharpsburg Main Street will have a second Tal & Bert storefront. In addition to household goods from Tal & Bert, hand-picked products from various manufacturers and small businesses from all over the country are offered in the minimalist, chic retail space in Dormont. As black business owners, the Talberts said they commit to filling more than half of their business with goods from black and minority owned companies.
“I think there are a lot of great manufacturers that are out of the limelight compared to these bigger brands,” Val Talbert told Pittsburgh Magazine prior to the Dormont facility opening last year. “We wanted to create a business that would show how great these little brands are and show them off.”
While the couple is excited to open the new location, there is a lot of construction to complete first.
“While we got this space at a great price, it still requires a LOT of renovation work that is worth anywhere from $ 50,000 to $ 60,000 just for the basics – new floors, walls, building spaces, fixture lights, creating a usable loading dock, and more.” so the couple wrote.
The Talberts hope to be able to settle in the new room by April. A grand opening will take place at the end of June.
“So stay tuned for the transformation of this space,” they said.
