The Pittsburgh couple have “Finest Christmas Ever” after adopting a 5-year-old boy whom they’ve been caring for for 1 yr – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Pittsburgh couple say this is “the best Christmas ever” after adopting a 5-year-old boy whom they have been looking after since last December.

Exactly a year after Michaela and Dave Robbins brought Noah into their home, he officially became their son. The family’s adoption hearing was practically held due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Noah has a rare orthopedic condition that affects his joints and spine, but not his mind. In fact, he inspires people everywhere he goes. He is well known in his Lawrenceville neighborhood, and Michaela and Dave say everyone loves him.

“He’s a bit like the mayor here. When you date Noah, you never know who you will meet, ”said Dave.

“When Noah was adopted, he was in foster care for 1,300 days,” Michaela told KDKA’s Kym Gable. “So there were a lot of people in Pittsburgh who followed his story and really helped raise a really happy child.”

“It brought tears to my eyes when the judge called him Noah Robbins,” she added.

Dave and Michaela volunteered at the Pittsburgh Children’s Home when they fell in love with Noah and took him home.

The family shared the video of the adoption hearing with KDKA, explaining that Noah was not the only one in their household who was officially adopted that day. A dog named Lucky came to the Robbins’ home in March. He was missing a paw and needed a little more care.

Noah insisted that Lucky be adopted with him.

“He kept telling us that the best friends are adopted together,” said Michaela. “We had a really magical journey to find Noah. It took us a long time to find him. But man, was it worth the wait? “

The community gathers around the family to raise funds for a new wheelchair accessible van for Noah.
