42 individuals unintentionally injected with antibodies as an alternative of vaccines – CBS Pittsburgh
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – The West Virginia National Guard said 42 people were accidentally injected with antibodies to COVID-19 instead of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday, WCHS-TV reported.
The Regeneron antibody product injections were given at a clinic hosted by the Boone County Health Department. The guard said they didn’t think the 42 people who received the wrong shot were at risk.
“The moment we were informed of what happened, we acted immediately to correct it and we immediately reviewed and strengthened our logs to improve our sales process and prevent this from happening again” Maj. Gen. James Hoyer, adjutant general for the West Virginia National Guard, said in a press release Thursday.
Anyone who received the wrong shot has been contacted or is in the process of being contacted. They will be contacted by the State Department of Health and Human Resources and given priority status to receive the vaccine.
