Deputy Fire Chief Brian Kokkila stated that this was not an easy fire to fight.
“Old houses. Very close together. Makes it a lot harder for firefighters. If Duquesne Light hadn’t drained some of the energy, the firefighters wouldn’t even have been able to go upstairs, ”said Kokkila.
