The accompanying video by the Post shows a masked man in black clothes going to the cash register and exchanging words with two male subway employees before attempting to open the cash register. However, the silent footage from the surveillance camera reveals that employee Deshawn Richardson thwarted the man’s progress for more than a minute while the other employee went back into the kitchen.

The man was unsuccessful in trying to access the cash in the till and then took cash from a nearby tip jar. But Richardson grabbed the glass and yanked it back as the couple began a high-stakes tug of war through the plexiglass divider.

After the man appears to have gotten the money and rushes to leave, Richardson jumped over the counter and out of sight of the frame. It is not clear what happened next as the video pauses seconds later.
