Cleveland Browns Information 1/31: Goodbye, Pittsburgh
Good morning Cleveland Browns fans! Part of the pathetic failure of my OBR Newswire strategy, which can be summed up as “wake up / make coffee / link things”, is that I don’t hide links like a chipmunk who keeps nuts in the corner of my mouth. I find it, I use it. Right here and there. This makes the Newswire a very timely resource used by practically dozens of dedicated Browns fans every day … but at the expense of not knowing if there will be something to link the next day.
And actually there is hardly anything to be linked today. Everyone understands that Matt Stafford is being traded on the Rams in Los Angeles. “First-round picks are irrelevant” rams that have no useful connections with the Browns. Or they are still writing about logos and alternative uniforms.
The highlight of the day comes from our old friend Sobo, who traveled to the Senior Bowl for Bleacher Report and comes back from practice week and the game with a couple of takeaways. There are a ton of things about quarterbacks that we can safely work around (for once), but I would recommend you fast forward to point 6 and check out the great prospects at Cornerback that will be available. There is also a good week summary from some of the draft recipients.
Sigh, I remember when we first sent Sobo to the Senior Bowl. I told him to write it like a travelogue (great advice, Mr. Editor) and people didn’t like it. All my fault. How far has our friend come?
On the official website, Andrew Gribble takes the time to answer a few questions, including one of why the Browns are no longer using Chubb and Hunt in the background. Our own Fred Greetham dealt with this question a few days ago and it is something to watch as Kevin Stefanski evolves his offense.
You know the team will be better off if you have questions about the competition at the back-up guard (like Gribble) rather than the quarterback start, for example. Sign of progress, sign of progress.
As long as.
Our last link brings a little joy to my heart. It’s about Steelers Center Maurkice Pouncey, who wants to retire but is wavering due to Ben Roethlisberger’s desire to keep playing. It makes me happy because I don’t like the Steelers – no, not a bit – and this is the kind of article you see when a team is in decline. Similar to running back from above.
Of course, in three years’ time, those headlines will be replaced with a headline like “Sixth Round in the Middle of Eastern Splitsville University Makes Pro Bowl”. Because, tragically, the Steelers always jump back like that.
That’s about all there is in newswire today without sending you to fan blogs or sketchy websites that are a hellish landscape of ad blockers, random paywalls, and asking for newsletter signups and subscriptions.
Speaking of which DID YOU KNOW that an OBR subscription is now 60% discount for a limited time? It is! Subscribe today or I’ll turn it into a Pokemon Go fansite, I swear.
Also, sign up for our sporadic email newsletter that I should be sending out every day, but keep forgetting because the brain isn’t working.
(The previous three paragraphs have a stupid lack of irony on them. Nobody else in the Cleveland Browns media can pull this off.)
See how easy it was? We didn’t jump anything in your face! Surely we have now proven that the OBR is the most incredible Cleveland Browns news site ever created. Did I mention NO POP-UPS? AND SUBSCRIBE TODAY FOR A CHEAP!
Have a good one! Webdork out.
