Allegheny Overlook celebrates grand opening with a three-day stay music sequence | Music | Pittsburgh

Elias Khouri will play on the Allegheny Overlook stage on June 24th

On June 24th, the grand opening ceremony began for the Allegheny Overlook, a new downtown pop-up park overlooking the Allegheny River. The celebrations at Allegheny Overlook continue throughout the weekend with live music, plus a beer garden and food vendors as you groove to the local musicians.

The pop-up park takes over small sections of Fort Duquesne Boulevard and Sixth Avenue that are closed and feature a living street mural designed by Pittsburgh artist and muralist Janel Young. The mural and the pop-up park will be open to the public until autumn. On June 24th, Jim Donovan & the Sun King Warriors played a show opened by guitarist Elias Khouri.

Bindley Hardware Co. with William Matheny

Friday June 25th. 5 p.m. Free.

The ancestors of the Bindley family owned a Pittsburgh-based hardware company over 100 years ago. Recalling his roots on behalf of his band, Jon Bindley is the frontman of the old country and rock group Bindley Hardware Co. Summer nights are perfect for country twang, and the group of six will do that when they perform on stage at the Allegheny Watch . William Matheny, a West Virginia-based singer / songwriter, will open the performance.

Jordan Montgomery with Sierra Sellers

Sat. June 26th 6:00 p.m. Free.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Jordan Montogomery is an emerging artist on the hip hop scene. Montgomery will deliver a breathtaking performance with his provocative lyrics and his production. Montgomery is the founder of the local independent label Driving While Black Records, which is also the title of his debut album. Another rising artist from Pittsburgh, Sierra Sellers is opening Montogomery with an R&B performance.
