Ben Roethlisberger Follows Weight loss plan “Stricterly Than” Tom Brady’s: Report
Roethlisberger agreed to a pay cut to help the Pittsburgh Steelers this off-season.
During a media session earlier last month, the 39-year-old quarterback said he had proposed a $ 5 million pay cut to help the Steelers free up $ 15 million in cap space.
“I told them that I would like to help the team as best we can,” said Roethlisberger via Sports illustrated. “I went up to them and told them I would do everything I can to help the team sign the guys who are going to help us win football games. I’ve been very blessed to have played this game for a long time. That was one of the reasons I wanted to come back. I knew we had great defense and great weapons on offense. “I wanted to come back and be part of a special football team that everyone overlooks, which is kind of cool too. In order to get the boys, I thought it was necessary to do that. ”
The Steelers were able to sign again Zach banner, Cameron Sutton, Tyson Alualu, and Juju Smith cobbler, Roethlisberger’s primary wide receiver, as well as several additional free agents with the additional cap space.
“I thought it was right when I wanted to play,” said Roethlisberger. “I felt relatively healthy, all in all at the end of the season. It just felt like I had more in my tank and of course I was disappointed with the end of the season and I hated going out like that.”
Roethlisberger and the Steelers agreed on a new contract for the 2021 season in March, which will be his 18th with the franchise, having been selected as No. 11 overall in the 2004 NFL Draft.
Brady’s incredibly strict TB12 method and nutrition plan have played a key role in extending his now 22-year NFL career, including winning his seventh Super Bowl in February.
