Baylor Long has been named news director at the Hearst-owned Birmingham, Ala. NBC affiliate WVTM.
This is a move within Hearst for Long, who is presently the assistant news director at Hearst-owned WTAE in Pittsburgh. Long takes over for Sue Stephens, who is retiring this month.
Susana Schuler, president and general manager of WVTM, said Baylor will be a valuable addition to the station.
“Baylor brings a wealth of ideas and insights from his experience in other Hearst Television markets to help our winning team of journalists,” she said.
Long has been the assistant news director at WTAE since 2017. Before his time there, he was the executive producer at Hearst’s WXII in Winston-Salem, N.C. He’s also worked for Hearst station WBAL in Baltimore, and WLWT in Cincinnati, Ohio. He started his career in Altoona, Pa.
