PITTSBURGH, PA (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers failed to extend their winning streak of the season on Sunday with a 2-0 setback to Pittsburgh on Independence Day.
Freddy Peralta served Pittsburgh’s Kevin Newman a first-inning homer to beat the Brewers early.
Both teams sent three pitchers that day, which together enabled four hits. Peralta went six innings, allowed three hits, and gave up both runs. Jake Cousins and Brad Boxberger each went an inning, with only Boxberger allowing one hit.
Tyler Anderson took the win for the Buccos.
Willy Adames had a double for the Brewers. Jackie Bradley Jr. recorded a single.
Milwaukee left six batter on base and went 0-4 with runners in the scoring position that day.
