Cincinnati Bengals stick with Austin Seibert for Week 15 in opposition to Pittsburgh Steelers

CINCINNATI – The Bengals give Austin Seibert a second chance to take on the Steelers in week 15

Seibert took Randy Bullock’s place on the starting line-up in Sunday’s 30-7 loss to Dallas. He tried just one extra point – he hit the post and bounced through.

“Austin will get a second shot. He only had one extra point,” said Bengal’s head coach Zac Taylor on Monday.

Bullock has been fighting for the past few weeks. He has missed three of his last five field goal attempts in his last three games, which resulted in him being sat on a bench on Sunday.

“We have to do some of those kicks,” said Taylor when asked about the decision to bench Bullock.

The 30-year-old has attempted 90 of 106 (84.9%) field goal attempts in 62 regular season games with the Bengals. Cincinnati signed Bullock at the end of the 2016 season.

The Bengals claimed Seibert after the Browns released him in Week 2. Cleveland selected him in the fifth round (170th total) in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Seibert made 25 of 30 (83.3%) field goal attempts in 17 games with the Browns. They released him after missing a 41 yard try and extra point against the Ravens in Week 1.

Seibert may not be the answer at Kicker, but the coaching team is clearly looking for answers.

They also put sophomore security guard Michael Jordan on the bench on Sunday. For the first time this season he was a healthy inactive.

The Bengals have an extra day to prepare for the Steelers. They host Pittsburgh on Monday night at Paul Brown Stadium. The start is planned for 8.15 p.m.
