PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Memorial Day will be celebrated across the Pittsburgh area with in-person and virtual ceremonies, parades and memorials during this long weekend.

Lawrenceville is celebrating a centenary at the historic Doughboy statue. This takes place on Sunday, May 30th at 12:30 p.m. in Doughboy Square.
There will also be many closings for the long holiday weekend.
In the city of Pittsburgh, all government offices will be closed and the city’s parks and recreation division is suspending food distribution.
Trash and recycling collection across the city will be pushed back by a day throughout the week.
This is the vacation schedule for city parks and recreational facilities:

The Grab ‘n Go mealtimes schedule will accommodate seniors with additional meals on Friday May 28, 2021, and the regular schedule will resume on Wednesday June 2, 2021.

In Allegheny County, all government offices, county council, and courts are closed on Monday. All offices and parking facilities will reopen for regular business hours on Tuesday June 1st.
District officials say the North Park and South Park golf courses will be open from morning to night on vacation.
PennDOT is closing its driver license and photo centers for the entire vacation weekend across the state. Those in need of forms, manuals or other services can use the website until the offices reopen on Tuesday.

Regarding the port authority’s service, it says that all bus and light rail services will run on Sundays on public holidays. The Downtown Service Center will also be closed.
