EVERYTHING YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO THIS YEAR. REPORTER: CITY OFFICIALS SAY THE FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION WILL BE BACK MOSTLY AS WE REMEMBER IT. THERE WILL BE FIREWORKS OVER THE CITY, PEOPLE GATHERING AT POINT STATE PARK, LOTS OF FOOD VENDORS AND MUSIC, BUT IT WILL BE SHORTER. THE MAYOR IT SAYS THIS IS ONE OF THE MANY EVENTS THEY WILL SEE RETURN. >> DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH WILL FEEL A LOT LIKE HOW IT DID PRE-COVID. REPORTER THE FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION AND BLOCK PARTIES. REPORTER: WE >> WE WILL BE WAVING BLOCK PERMITS ALL OVER THE CITY. WE WANT TO ALLOWED NEIGHBORS TO GET TOGETHER AND HAVE THEIR OWN CELEBRATIONS. REPORTER: THE MAYOR SAYS THEY PERMIT WILL BE REQUIRED BUT THE FEE WON’T. THE CHANGE IS A WAY TO LET PEOPLE GATHER IN THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS AND SPREAD OUT THE FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS. Some Fourth of July celebrations and fireworks shows are returning in the Pittsburgh area this year. Here’s a working list of western Pennsylvania communities with set dates and/or times.Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, most shows were canceled in 2020 and many communities in 2021 have yet to announce their plans, while some have canceled their shows. Community celebrationsCity of Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh is holding an Independence Day celebration this year. Mayor Bill Peduto said music and food vendors will be at Point State Park from 6 to 10 p.m. and fireworks will begin at twilight.
