DeAndre Hopkins appears to be enjoying life after the Houston Texans.
He wants JJ Watt to share the experience.
The Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl recipient pitched his former Texas teammate Tuesday to join him in the desert. It wasn’t subtle.
Would Watt join Cardinals?
This is nifty Photoshop work that seems to have come from the picture when both players were still in Houston. Hopkins left the final off-season on a high profile deal that likely played a role in the sacking of former Texas head coach and general manager Bill O’Brien.
Watt is also done in Houston after requesting and receiving his release from the Texans last week. He is free to sign with whom he will decide. Hopkins hopes to bring the band back together.
It’s not a bad place. The Cardinals’ trajectory points behind an exciting offensive with Hopkins and quarterback Kyler Murray, who has just resumed his Rookie of the Year campaign with a Pro Bowl nod. Adding three-time Defensive Player of the Year to the mix could be the boost that propels the Cardinals into playoff competition or beyond at NFC West.
Watt has many options and applicants. The Pittsburgh Steelers – where his brothers TJ and Derek play – are likely among them. Steelers recipient JuJu Smith-Schuster took the opportunity from Hopkins’ Instagram post to remind Watt in the comment section.
Is that a manipulation?
Ordinarily, this would all look like an obvious manipulation on both Hopkins and Smith-Schuster’s side. But since Watt is free and free of Texans, there is no one here to manipulate. So it seems like an open season for Watt recruiting.
Whichever team is successful will make a difference in defense – that is, if Watt can stay healthy on his next goal.
