PITTSBURGH – DISH Network has removed AT&T SportsNet from its channel offering, effectively ceasing TV coverage of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Pirates games.

AT&T SportsNet announced on its website that negotiations with DISH Network had proven fruitless.

“During our renewal talks, we proposed a very cheap deal to DISH that other major distributors accepted,” AT&T SportsNet said in a statement posted on its website. “DISH Network was only willing to get involved on very unusual terms to redistribute the networks. No other (regional sports network) in the country had accepted the conditions proposed by DISH. “

A local DISH Network representative did not immediately respond to comment.
