Fantasy Soccer: Bears-Steelers Begin-Sit DFS Ideas

Special about Yahoo Sports

Yahoo is adding a single game offering to its daily fantasy football options in 2021. Yahoo has a roster construction of a “superstar” who scores with a 1.5 multiplier, while the remaining four FLEX roster spots collect points at the normal rate. This is a one-half point PPR rating and the “Superstar” salary is not changed by the utility. All ratings and rules can be found here.

The Chicago Bears and their future Justin Fields, head to Pittsburgh to face bionics Ben Röthlisberger and the Steelers.

It’s important to remember that single game slates are not simply a “max salary, play and submit as many big names as possible” format, especially on larger tournament fields. We need to identify players who can contribute to the success of their offensive, whether in the lead or behind, as well as the players who could be the focus of a neutral game script. The ability to then take those players and find out which ones will be successful in the single-game format will put us in a better position to do well as Daily Fantasy players.

Vegas total and spread

Pittsburgh is a seven-point home favorite with an over / under of 40 points. The Steelers have an implicit team total of 23.5 points, while the Bears have an implicit team total of 16.5 points.

Possible game flow scenarios

The Chicago Bears must dominate the clock to keep this game within reach. Justin Fields ($ 21), one return David Montgomery ($ 22) and Khalil Herbert ($ 19) asked to mitigate a Steelers defense ($ 17) that ranks second in Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) over running backs and eights against quarterbacks. The Steelers have only faced one quarterback with a running profile similar to Fields. Josh Allen. Allen averaged nearly five yards per carry in Week 1 against Pittsburgh, and that’s a floor within Fields a week after his first 100-yard rush of his rookie season.

The story goes on

The fields must also find a way to comfortably throw the ball. The Steelers Pass Rush was supposed to come home against the Bears offensive line, but one thing the Bears did in Week 8 was tight ends and running backs Chip 49ers Edge Rusher Nick Bosa. To give the bears a little more time for Fields, look for the same counter TJ Watt, provided Bears head coach Matt Nagy watched the week 8 movie where he didn’t make calls or suggestions about being out due to COVID. The Steelers can be beaten by wideouts as Pittsburgh are against the 19th position in aFPA.

The Bears Defense ($ 15) will be without it Khalil Mack and security Eddie Jackson Week 9. Jackson is just an experience loss from sitting on a milk carton for several seasons. The 49ers attacked the Bears on the ground without a Mack and with a limp Akiem Hicks. if Elijah Mitchell can exceed 100 yards, then Najee Harris ($ 25) means an excellent game. The Bears are better at defending, and a game script with a heavy Harris workload is the best way to keep Fields on the sidelines and keep their own defenses fresh. Slowly but surely, a consistent running attack weakens the bears’ defense.

That also lasts Ben Röthlisberger ($ 22) upright. He is grappling with three injuries that are considered minor, but with the mobility of a parking cone, Roethlisberger will rely on Harris and Diontae Johnson ($ 27). Roethlisberger’s 6.6 yards per attempt is his highest since 2018, partly due to negative game scripts at the start of the season. Chicago is 26th in aFPA for wide receivers and will be an easy target, especially with Harris controlling the ground play.

Cheap / unique stacking option

Traditional stacks like QB / WR1 or WR2, QB / TE and RB / DEF are stacks that are used in profit statements. The obvious choice is not always the winning choice. Below is a cheap pile with at least one unique quality that could break the slate.

Jesse James ($ 10), Pat Freiermuth ($ 11), and Steelers Defense ($ 17)

The Bears Offensive gives 10.1 Fantasy Points per game to the opposing defense, 31st in aFPA. The combination of defense with a pass catcher instead of running back correlates better this year than in the past. Freiermuth has been with the Steelers since week 6, as a TE Eric Ebron (out in week 9) began to suffer injuries.

the Jesse James It also gives you a trusted option for Justin Fields that’s not one of the running backs.

Fleeting, low-salary games

Zach Gentry ($ 10)

The Ebron injuries allowed Gentry to get more on the field. Gentry had five goals in week 8, turning them into three receptions and 39 yards.

Anthony McFarland Jr. ($ 10)

McFarland got a touch in his first week after IR week 8. In the event Harris got injured or the game went sideways for Pittsburgh, McFarland could see him get work.

Allen Robinson ($ 12)

Sigh. Imagine if Justin Fields had received first-team reps at training camp.

Superstar selection

Najee Harris ($ 25)

Just Diontae Johnson plays more snaps than Harris on the backs and receive options, and no Steelers skill position player scores more than Harris in PPR settings with half a point. Harris leads the Steelers in the red zone receiving targets.

Diontae Johnson ($ 27)

I’m not 100% sure Johnson is being shadowed by Bears CB Jaylon Johnson, and if he doesn’t, he should have no problem pushing Harris over most of the fantasy points tonight. Johnson should see a lower roster at Superstar than the more expensive option of the two.

Justin Fields ($ 21)

We saw in week 8 what Fields is capable of when given a competent game plan. The question is, will Matt Nagy have one on his return from COVID?

Allen Robinson ($ 12)

Darnell Mooney ($ 15) showed he’s Fields’ favorite recipient, but I’m not putting him in the superstar seat with the expectation of beating a GPP. Robinson has elite talent and will be a lineup killer or winner when Week 9 is the “Allen Robinson Game “for better or for worse.
