LATROBE (KDKA) – “I tell you, we have hundreds of thousands of people here to support our President and save our nation. Are you with me ?”
This is Rick Saccone in the midst of the crowd outside the U.S. Capitol that appears to support the wanton destruction inside.
“They tore down the gates. They finish her up there. We’re trying to get all the bad guys out there and all the RINOs who betrayed our president. We will evict them from their offices. “
But in a telephone interview today, Saccone said he was unaware that these things were actually happening at the time and spoke some tongue at bay.
SHEEHAN: “It seems that you are warning people to use violence.”
SACCONE: Well, it might seem like that to someone who doesn’t know me. No one who listens would think, if you say, “Save the nation, drain the swamp, or throw away the RINOs” that you are actually going to do physical violence. These are idioms. “
Here in Pittsburgh, US attorney Scott Brady has asked our local FBI office to check tapes and use other methods to identify people in this area who may have perpetrated or incited violence at the Capitol.
“The vast majority of the people were not busy, not traveling for that purpose, but for the few who were connecting to western Pennsylvania,” Brady said.
There is no evidence that Saccone is currently under investigation. But Saint Vincent College said in a statement it was disconnecting from him.
“After reviewing the video of Rick Saccone, an associate professor, we immediately began an investigation into the facts and circumstances surrounding it. As a result of this investigation, Dr. Saccone submitted and we have accepted his letter of resignation with immediate effect. He will no longer be affiliated with Saint Vincent College in any way. “
“I thought with all these misunderstandings. I love this school so much that I wouldn’t do anything to tarnish St. Vincent. That’s why I decided that at this point it is just better to step down, ”Saccone said.
Now Saccone said he took the video outside of the Capitol building and when he and his wife got closer they saw tear gas and decided to leave. He says he took down the video when he learned about the violence inside. But the damage had already been done to his career.
