Highmark Well being is delaying return to workplace as a consequence of Delta variant – WPXI
PITTSBURGH – Highmark Health is delaying the long-awaited return to the office for many of its employees by several weeks.
The Pittsburgh-based health insurer has long planned and invested heavily in renovating workspaces and work teams during the Covid-19 pandemic with a view to a hybrid work schedule starting after Labor Day. The workplaces had been redesigned, particularly at the headquarters on Fifth Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh, and each employee’s workplaces had been checked for the optimal hybrid work schedule.
But the rise of the Delta variant has messed up the plans of many employers. This has resulted in many delays in getting back to the office, as well as action by some employers – including Highmark Health and Allegheny Health Network – to urge vaccination of all employees to slow the spread of the virus.
