Increase Cell Retailer has been focused by armed theft for the second time
The regional manager of a local cell phone store is seeking help from the public to keep his business from being a target. A surveillance video from the Boost Mobile store on Penn Avenue in Wilkinsburg shows an armed robbery. The same thing happened in the same store in July. The regional manager keeps his identity anonymous for his own safety and the safety of his employees. “Twenty past noon on a Saturday morning in Wilkinsburg, right on Penn Avenue. It looks like he walks by, then looks through the door and walks in immediately, ”said the regional manager. The video shows a man with a gun heading straight for the cash register. He tells the worker to empty the drawers and then tells him to go back to look for more money. “The boys are afraid to work there because it can happen at any time. These are all robberies in broad daylight, they are not robberies or smash and grab. They are organized, with a gun and demands, and the boys are ready to rob us when he gets there, ”said the regional manager. It’s not the first time. The video recorded in July shows a similar robbery in the same store with the same clerk at the checkout. “We are concerned about the raids that are taking place,” said Sam Gibson, community activist. Gibson works nearby. He fears that the ongoing crimes against companies threaten not only their safety but also their ability to do business. It’s having an impact, ”Gibson said. Boost Mobile’s manager said these heists made recruiting a challenge as well. “I fear that this will mean that even fewer people will want to work for us. It’s a great shop and community and that really dwarfed the work there, ”said the regional manager. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 reached out to Wilkinsburg police and mayor of the city regarding these concerns but has not yet heard back. City council members said they will look into these concerns.
