KSTP-TV will soon have a new host on its nightly newscast to replace Jackie Cain, who is leaving Twin Cities to be closer to family in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
“I’m in the process of putting on the old IFB (the little thing in our ears that people in the control room let us hear) and making life a lot slower. I am so grateful to the Hubbard family and team here at KSTP for giving me one of the most powerful opportunities of my life, “said Cain.
Cain joined KSTP in 2018 after working at WTAE in Pittsburgh. She replaced Leah McLean, who hosted the KSTP evening and night news for 13 years before moving to a reporter role.
Cain says she is “ready to end the long-distance relationship” that arose from her job in Minnesota and her husband’s career in Pittsburgh. She also wants to go home to help her father, who recently suffered a stroke.
“His work anchored him in Pittsburgh and we could only see each other on weekends. Shortly after Father’s Day, my father had a stroke. God willing, he’s getting better every day, but I have to be there really is too short and I’m listening, God (prayers for Ron are appreciated), “Cain wrote.

According to Cain’s biography, she graduated with Honors from Reed College of Media at West Virginia University, where she was also the main spokesperson for WVU NEWS. She went to the WVU with a dance scholarship and studied theater and dance as a minor.
“The Twin Cities will always have a piece of our hearts and we will come back often. If I ever win the lottery, the first thing I will buy is a cabin on Gull Lake !!” She said.
Cain’s last day at KSTP is August 19th.
