The Strip District ice cream parlor encourages other businesses to do the same.

The minimum wage hike will begin Thursday April 1, but despite the April Fool’s joke change, the company says this is not a joke.

The change will apply to new and existing employees, according to Klavon, and employees will still be able to receive tips on that hourly wage.

The rise in the minimum wage is coming, as Klavon says, it is difficult to find applicants for the spring and summer ice seasons.

The company says it will continue to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines, including wearing masks, partitions, and social distancing.

According to Klavon, no employee has received COVID-19 or laid off a single employee during the coronavirus pandemic.
