Large Pittsburgh Financial institution is just not solely consolidating manufacturers, it’s now condensing its title – WPXI

PITTSBURGH – One of the largest financial institutions in Pittsburgh is shortening its name. In fact, Citizens Financial Group Inc. is cutting the word “bank” from its retail and several other businesses.

Providence, Rhode Island (NYSE: CFG) residents confirmed the renaming to the Pittsburgh Business Times via email. CEO Bruce Van Saun revealed the change in an interview with MarketWatch, but Citizens (NYSE: CFG) said it started quietly over the summer and is gradually unfolding. You could call it dollars to donuts as the analogy offered by Citizens was the fast food chain Dunkin ‘Donuts, which dropped its original product name a few years ago to be renamed Dunkin’ to reflect an expanded menu.

Citizens expected the process to take a few years.
