Leisure flights dominate as air visitors recovers in Pittsburgh – WPXI
PITTSBURGH – After a challenging 2020 for the aviation industry, Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) experienced month-on-month passenger growth for most of 2021, and that’s largely due to continued demand for leisure travel.
According to Christina Cassotis, CEO of the Allegheny County Airport Authority, which manages the PIT and Allegheny County Airport, business travel is returning, but leisure travel is maintaining its dominance in the market for the time being.
“It’s the beach and the mountains, that’s where people want to go,” says Cassotis. “It makes total sense to me, (but) it will shift.”
