Man will get as much as 30 years in jail for capturing and killing 3-year-old lady – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man who said he slept with a shotgun and found a three-year-old girl dead when he woke up will spend up to 30 years in prison.

Allegheny District Prosecutors said a judge has sentenced Marlin Pritchard to 14 to 30 years in prison for the shooting of a young child. Pritchard pleaded guilty in March.

Chassity Clancy was found dead in a house on E. Warrington Avenue in Beltzhoover last February. She had a gunshot wound on her neck while lying in bed.

Pritchard told authorities that he slept next to Chassity and had a shotgun under his pillow pointing in their direction. The gun went off, hit the girl in the middle of the night and eventually killed her.

Authorities say Pritchard told investigators he slept with the gun because of other people’s threats. Investigators say he shouldn’t have a gun because he was convicted on a crime charge in the past.
