Maryland’s First Pennsylvania Woman Injured Matching First Shark Chew – CBS Pittsburgh

Ocean City, Maryland (AP) – The injury to a Pennsylvania girl on a beach in Ocean City is compatible with a sandbar shark bite and is the first in the state, according to the Department of Natural Resources, Maryland.

Department spokeswoman Megan McGinn-Meals said the decision was made after an expert reviewed a photo of injuring a 12-year-old girl.

McGinn-Meals says there have been some unconfirmed reports that would be Maryland’s first “confirmed territorial sea bite” unrelated to fishing.

The bite left Jordan Pushinski with 42 needles.
