McCaffery wins Virginia Craft Brewer and Scratch & Co. for The Terminal within the Strip District – WPXI

PITTSBURGH – Chicago-based McCaffery Interests has landed the kind of food-and-beer combo that was expected to get visitors to the Terminal, the company’s five-block redevelopment along Smallman Street in the Strip District.

Virginia-based Aslin Beer Co., known for its distinctive décor and success in making experimental beers, announced on social media Tuesday that it will be opening a new 7,000-square-foot taproom and brewhouse in the terminal, where she and Troy Hill Restaurant and Markt Scratch & Co.

The company was not immediately available for comment, but explained the fundamentals of the plan on their Facebook page and called the new space a “research and development hub unique in Pittsburgh.” The new outpost for Aslin will have a 10 keg brewing system that will be used to make a variety of beers for a company that typically produces 50 different varieties each year in its Alexandria home market, where it expanded from its original location in Herndon , Virginia the year before the pandemic.
