Meals Podcast: Steelers rookie Pat Freiermuth helps out on the Meals Financial institution
In the latest episode of the Food Podcast, presented by Clearview Federal Credit Union on the TribLIVE podcast network, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank sits down with Steelers rookie tight end Pat Freiermuth.
Freiermuth was one of several Steelers newbies who visited the Food Bank this week and volunteered there. Team members packed 850 boxes of frozen meat for Washington County.
While scoring his first NFL touchdown of his career this week, Freiermuth said serving the community is an important part of showing leadership off the field.
“I lead well and try to be a positive role model for children who follow my career. I think that’s something really big, to be a good role model and to use my platform sustainably, ”says Freiermuth.
Freiermuth said community service was something he did when he was at Penn State. He said he enjoyed giving back through THON and other community service as a captain.
“My parents did a good job from an early age to raise me, my brother and my sister to be leaders in our community and to become someone who uses our platform,” said Freiermuth.
