(AP) – Rookie Bobby Dalbec hit a two-run single in Boston’s sixth sixth inning to lead the Red Sox over the Pittsburgh Pirates (7-4) in spring training. Hunter Renfroe, Christian Arroyo and Kevin Plawecki each parted in a run in the frame.

Kevin Newman and Bryan Reynolds each had three goals for Pittsburgh. Newman hits .714 (20 for 28) this spring.

METS 8, ASTROS 3

Francisco Lindor had three hits and three RBIs for New York. Pete Alonso and Dominic Smith hit homers for the seventh game in a row, and Joey Lucchesi tossed 4 2/3 innings of a one-run ball for relief. Lucchesi is a leading contender for the fifth starter job on the team.

YANKEES 5, BLUE JAYS 1 (8)

Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres went 3-3 with two home runs, a solo shot in the third and a two-run shot in the fourth. Mike Ford had four hits and Jhoulys Chacín threw 2 2/3 goalless innings.

TIGERS 9, PHILLIES 8

Julio Tehran was upset in his fifth appearance for Detroit, giving up six runs and three hits in 3 2/3 innings. Grayson Greiner achieved a lead-off drive in the eighth and triggered an eight-time rally.

RAYS 2, TWINS 0

Tampa Bay right-handed Tyler Glasnow prepared for opening day with 10 spikes in five innings. He allowed three hits and went two.

INDIANS 9, DODGERS 2

Cleveland ace Shane Bieber scored nine hits in 5 2/3 innings on his last start before the opening day. Cesar Hernandez met the Indians and Eddie Rosario drove in two races.

PADRES 2, ANGELS 0 (7)

Blake Snell threw five innings of a one-hit ball for San Diego. The 2018 AL Cy Young Award winner hit six and went one.

BREWERS 6, ROYAL 6

Lorenzo Cain and Jackie Bradley Jr. returned to Milwaukee’s lineup. Cain had been knocked out by a strained right quadriceps, and Bradley had a sore right wrist.

Athletics 5, RANGERS 1

AJ Puk tossed Oakland four goalless innings, scored one hit, and hit three. Jed Lowrie doubled up twice and Ramon Laureano hit two doubles and one triplet.

Kyle Gibson worked five innings for the Rangers, allowing three earned runs and eight hits.

WHITE SOX 8, ROCKIES 2

White Sox ace Lucas Giolito hit nine in 5 2/3 goalless innings. The reigning AL MVP Jose Abreu celebrated his first home run of spring. Yoen Moncada had three hits and Tim Anderson finished with two hits.
