On Thursday, families one by one stopped, loaded up, and left with a turkey. It was the third year the Chaffin Luhana Foundation hosted a turkey giveaway for Thanksgiving, but it was the first year the foundation partnered with the Harris ‘Da’ Bigger Picture Foundation.
“For us, Thanksgiving is a very special time when families can come together and really connect,” said Eric Chaffin, managing partner at Chaffin Luhana. “That’s part of what our company is about, giving people the opportunity to network with one another.”
Families say the turkey is more than just a meal.

“Many people suffered and went through difficult times during the pandemic,” said Kenny Smith. “That is why it is good for people to give something back and care for it. That’s how it used to be, everyone took care of everyone. “
Sonya Thomas is a person who went through these difficulties.
“We had very little money this year,” said Thomas. “So we weren’t sure we were going to have a Thanksgiving dinner.”
For two days, the group says they will be handing out food to feed more than 700 families.
