MONESSEN (KDKA) – In Monessen, a new ordinance was passed that enables food trucks to be operated in the city.
“There weren’t any laws that prevented food trucks, but there weren’t any laws that stipulated guidelines or specifically allowed them,” says Mayor Matt Shorraw.
A permit with a one-time registration fee of $ 50 and an annual permit fee of $ 100 is required to operate food trucks in Monessen.
After approval with the appropriate permits, food vehicles are allowed to drive on public roads or properties in downtown Monessen as well as in public parks between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Mayor Shorraw says he hopes these food trucks in Monessen will attract more people to our downtown area to support the businesses we have here and to bring more visitors to our various parks across the city. There has been a demand for more food trucks and we are happy that it is possible. “
A Food Truck Festival will take place in the Monessen City Park on Saturday, June 5th at 12:00
