No native police in Freeport, chief resigned after at some point
Former Plum Sgt. Matt Feldmeier has resigned after serving a day as Freeport, Armstrong County’s Police Chief. “I left because of personnel issues that I discovered on the first day of the job and decided it was best for me to leave,” Feldmeier said. Freeport officials said they do not currently have a local police force patrolling the community, which the Pennsylvania State Police are responding to is calling Freeport until they hire officers. “I don’t understand what’s going on,” said Jodi Lutz, owner of Pup Salon. Lutz said the state police response time affects you as a business owner of a business, let’s put it that way, “Lutz said.” Something could happen so it definitely needs to be fixed. “Lauren Edinger, owner of Lucy’s Riverside Cafe, said she would know why Freeport can’t keep officers on duty. ” We had a police chief who resigned after a day and then the fact of the matter didn’t come to light until almost two weeks later, “Edinger said. The money is not coming from the police, but from another area of public security. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 turned to the Mayor of Freeport to ask about the money and the police. We haven’t heard anything. Councilor Ron Gallagher declined to discuss the money but said he didn’t understand what happened to Feldmeier “We thought we hired the perfect person,” said Gallagher. “He stayed for police interviews that evening and then left the next day.” Feldmeier said he thought leaving was the best decision. “It’s a great city.” “said Lutz.” Why can’t we keep the people here like what’s going on. ”

Freeport officials said they do not currently have a local police force patrolling the community that the Pennsylvania State Police will take calls in Freeport until they hire officers.
“I don’t understand what’s going on,” said Jodi Lutz, owner of Pup Salon.
Lutz said the response time of the state police affects her as the business owner.
“You may not have a business, let’s put it that way,” said Lutz. “Something could happen so it definitely needs to be fixed.”
Lauren Edinger, owner of Lucy’s Riverside Cafe, said she wanted to know why Freeport can’t keep officers on duty.
“We had a police chief who resigned after a day and then the fact only came out two weeks later,” said Edinger
Multiple sources told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that an issue is related to a lack of money that has since been repaid. The money does not come from the police, but from another area of public security.
Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 reached out to the Mayor of Freeport to ask about the money and the police. We haven’t heard anything yet.
Councilor Ron Gallagher declined to talk about the money but said he did not understand what happened to Feldmeier.
“We thought we hired the perfect person,” said Gallagher. “He stayed for police interviews that evening and then left the next day.”
Feldmeier said he thought the elimination was the best decision for him.
Freeport residents said they have a lot of questions.
“It’s a great city,” said Lutz. “Why can’t we keep people here like what’s going on.”
