HARRISBURG (KDKA) – Pennsylvania State Senator David Arnold has passed away after battling brain cancer.
Senator Arnold represented the 48th District of Pennsylvania, which includes Lebanon County and part of York and Dauphin Counties.

Senator Arnold died peacefully at home with his wife and daughter by his side.
Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman (R-34) and Senate Majority Leader Kim Ward (R-39) made the following statement.
“We mourn Senator Dave Arnold with the residents of the 48th Senatorial District and all Pennsylvania residents. We lost a good man and a dedicated leader far too soon. From the moment voters sent Dave to Harrisburg a year ago, he worked tirelessly for his constituents and the Commonwealth. This was no surprise to anyone who knew him. It was a continuation of a civil service record marked by independence and integrity. In addition to securing critical funding for vital projects in his district, Senator Arnold supported child protection laws passed by the Senate by increasing penalties for those charged with possession of child pornography and establishing a task force to continually seek ways to end this hideous practice. He also backed laws to ensure Lebanon County didn’t lose out on funding for the federal pandemic, and advocated restaurants and other small business employers affected by nationwide business closings. Before electing him to the Senate, voters showed their confidence in Dave by electing him as District Attorney for Lebanon, a position he held for 14 years. His counterparts showed their respect for his character and professionalism by electing him President of the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association. Dave was a lifelong resident of his beloved Lebanon County, a citizen, softball coach, husband and father. Our hearts break for his wife Alicia and daughter Reese. His community and our Commonwealth are better places because of Dave Arnold’s contributions. “
Joanna McClinton, Minority Chairwoman of the House, said:
“We are sad and our hearts are heavy when another colleague dies. We humbly ask you to keep Sen. Arnold’s family in your thoughts and prayers with us as our entire community mourns his loss. “
Senator Arnold was 49 years old.
