Pittsburgh leaders declare Might 23rd to be WPXI (Teen Psychological Well being Consciousness Day)
PITTSBURGH – Lt. Governor John Fetterman attended a mental health event Sunday.
The Fetterman and Pittsburgh leaders proclaimed May 23rd as “Teenage Mental Health Awareness Day”.
They say this is a crucial time for teens as nearly 50% of parents said their child has had new or deteriorated mental health status since the pandemic began.
“Just a lot of isolation. Especially with the pandemic, it is forcing everyone to stay home and be trapped in their heads, ”explained Connor Dalgaard, representative for the PA Youth Advocacy Network. “That’s the main thing I want to change. Knowing nobody alone and everyone has an outlet. You just have to find it. “
The PA Youth Advocacy Network includes representatives from 26 different high schools focused on helping teenagers with their mental health.
