Pittsburgh man sentenced to 18-40 years in jail for killing pregnant girlfriend – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Pittsburgh man who pleaded guilty but was mentally ill when he killed his pregnant girlfriend is being sent to jail.

On Friday, a judge sentenced James Wilson, who police said is homeless, to 18 to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty in December but suffering from mental illness after killing Brittany Alker and her unborn child in March.

Investigators found the woman’s body in a closet. Her body was discovered after police took Wilson to the hospital for medical treatment and then picked him up again after calling 911. Then investigators said he admitted the murder.

Investigators say she was strangled.
