Pascale Beaudin lives on the north side of Pittsburgh, but her job as an opera singer takes her around the world, singing songs from Baroque and Romantic composers. And she brings her voice prowess to contribute to the international opera marathon.

As part of a 12-hour music marathon for the Opera Lafayette Music Holiday, Bodin revisits past performances and recordings in two slots of an extended opera session.

“I’m excited to hear from my colleagues and have memories of that moment together,” says Bourdain. “And I’m excited to see the pictures of the work and hear the work I’ve never been to and never had the chance to see.”

Bourdain grew up in New Brunswick, Canada and began singing in choirs when he was young. She attended the University of Ottawa music program and wanted to sing as a career. She started her stage career Atelier Lyrique de l’Opera de Montreal Singing in Canada, France and the United States, including performances in Pittsburgh Chatham BaroqueAn organization focused on medieval, renaissance, baroque and early classical music.

It took some time for Bourdain’s voice to develop into a baroque and romantic repertoire that he liked to sing, but she tried to understand how the composer intended the original sound of the work. I enjoy what I call “archaeological works”.Her first performance with Opera Lafayette was in 2013 Così fan tutte, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera, another opera by Francois Andre Danican Philidol.

“Everyone he [Opera Lafayette artistic director and founder Ryan Brown] They felt better than I would say no. And he didn’t know me at all. I’m crazy enough to do that, “says Bourdain. “And fortunately, he has been hiring me ever since.”

The program was intense, with three consecutive days of performances in French spoken by Bourdain, in line with the Italian translation of the opera “labor” or “work.”Bourdain Opera lafayette, Washington, DC-based opera company, performing seasons in both DC and New York. I don’t know. , Keven Geddes, Marianne Fiset, Nathalie Paulin, and Kalanidhi Dance.

“I try not to be stressed about what I can’t control,” says Bourdain, but he certainly knows his performance at Philidol. blacksmithShe traveled to Colorado to play, appearing in a noon performance slot.

Opera Lafayette gave to a new spin blacksmithTranslates the original French into American English and transports the characters (now ranchers and cowboys) to Colorado. The original opera ensemble is also studded with American folk songs, creating an idiosyncratic version of the 1761 opera comic.

The marathon is free to watch, has 10 performance slots throughout the day, and has dozens of performers. In addition to archive performances, it also includes a variety of programs, including educational content for young opera fans and families, and behind-the-scenes documentaries of the performances. blacksmith..

“I think we’ve been deprived of performances and live performances a bit, but it’s still the case,” says Bourdain. “There aren’t many live events right now, so I think it’s a great opportunity to look back at the past seasons of Opera Lafayette and look forward to what they come up with in the coming years.”
