Pittsburgh Penguins Companions with BPG to Open Employment Alternatives Middle – WPXI
PITTSBURGH – A new employment center opens in the heart of the Hill District.
The Pittsburgh Penguins and development partner The Buccini / Pollin Group (BPG) announced the opening on April 19th. The opening of the First Source Center is planned for mid-May.
The First Source Center is located on the first floor of the historic Hill House on 1835 Center Avenue.
The centre’s mission is to provide residents with a central location where they can have better access to job opportunities, vocational training and routes to construction, professional and service employment.
“We are excited to offer employment opportunities to residents in the heart of the Hill District,” said Dorin Dickerson, director of development for the Pittsburgh Penguins and formerly Mascaro Construction. “The opening of the First Source Center is timed to coincide with our progress in the Lower Hill redevelopment, which will bring thousands of construction and thousands more permanent jobs to the Hill District town and community,” said Dickerson.
The Penguins and the BPG stated that they would coordinate public relations work to inform the residents of the region about job opportunities.
The Pittsburgh Penguins pulled out of Lower Hill redevelopment plans last May when the Urban Redevelopment Authority delayed a vote on a proposed First National Bank office tower.
