PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh police were ordered to call SWAT officers to the location of an apartment on the 5500 block of Baywood Street Sunday after a woman barricaded herself inside.
Police tried to protect the woman from abuse at home when she became combative, barricaded herself inside, and threw objects at the police.
When SWAT arrived, she continued to throw objects at officers.
SWAT officers were able to gain access to the home and took the woman into custody without incident.
The incident resulted in Baywood Street being closed for about an hour.
Once the woman is medically relieved, the police have stated that she could be charged with assault and / or reckless endangerment for throwing objects at the police.
