PITTSBURGH – The richest zip codes in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area include some of the same locations each year – so how much do they really change?

Actually a little. Look no further than Downtown Pittsburgh – 15222 – which was in the bottom third of the area’s zip codes by income a decade ago and is now number 12.

We looked at the current 15 richest postcodes in the region and used census data to compare how they look now – in terms of income and population. Postal codes with a population of at least 1,000 were included. All but one of these places have gotten richer, and some a lot more than others. Eleven of the 15 residents increased during this period, although the population as a whole was declining.
