Pittsburgh Steelers are ruling out Boswell, Edmunds for week 17, leaving the impression who’s resting

PITTSBURGH – On the way to Cleveland in week 17, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have to do without Terrell Edmunds and kicker Chris Boswell.

Edmunds (shoulder) is set to miss his first game of the season after not participating in training all week. Third year safety is backed by Jordan Dangerfield, with rookie Antoine Brooks Jr. on the training team.

Boswell will miss his third game of the season and the second in a row with a groin injury. The training team’s kicker, Matt Wright, was called up in his absence and will return to kicking duties for the Steelers in week 17.

It’s safe to assume that the Steelers won’t play against four of their captains in week 17 either. Earlier this week, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac reported that Maurkice Pouncey, Cameron Heyward and TJ Watt will be resting against the Browns.

Pouncey and Watt haven’t worked out all week. Heyward was a full contestant on Thursday but sat the rest of the week with a non-injury related day.

Diontae Johnson also appeared in the injury report on Friday with an illness. He will head to Cleveland with no injury mark but is now a name to watch out for as the team prepares for the trip.

The Steelers have already secured the AFC North title and cannot say goodbye to second place in the AFC in the first round. If they beat the Browns in week 17 and lose the Buffalo Bills, the Steelers will advance to 2nd place at the conference. A loss or a Bills win would secure them number 3.
