Pittsburgh’s Weekend Report: Might 18-20 June

With torrential rains over the last week forcing everyone to take shelter indoors, check out some of these events in the Pittsburgh area on the (hopefully) sunny weekend. Searching for Home, which runs through August 21st You can see Humaira Abid’s art in the main gallery of Contemporary Craft. Her exhibition Searching for Home examines the global refugee crisis and focuses on the struggles of women and girls. Humaira’s true-to-scale wood carvings show the instability in society to which women are particularly exposed. Pittsburgh Pirates vs Cleveland Indians June 18, 19 and 20 The Pittsburgh Pirates are hosting the Cleveland Indians at PNC Park on June 18 at 7:05 p.m., June 19 at 4:05 p.m. and June 20 at 1 p.m. 5 o’clock. After the game on Friday, stay for a fireworks display. 3. Allegheny County Summer Concert Series: The Jaggerz, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. The free concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at the South Park Amphitheater with food trucks and craft beer from the Hop Farm Brewing Company starting at 6:00 p.m. Enjoy soulful R&B – Styled by The Jaggerz this Friday, and visit Allegheny County’s website for a list of all of the artists this summer. Juneteenth Freedom Days Festival, through June 20, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. June – a recently recognized federal holiday – is a celebration that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. West Pennsylvania’s Juneteenth Festival at Point State Park features African American culture, education, live music, vendors, speakers, and more. 5th Juneteenth Youth Fest, through June 20, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm For a more kid-friendly Juneteenth celebration, visit Mellon Park for activities specially designed for children ages six to 17. Celebrations include a flag football tournament, basketball tournament and fun zone, deck hockey, and more. The Terminal Farmers Market, June 19 at 9 a.m. Every third Saturday of the month through October, browse a variety of vendors in and around the newly remodeled Strip District Terminal. This weekend’s market will host 40+ vendors selling produce, candy, wine and more. Pour Me Another at the Yard Drag Show, June 19 at 2:30 p.m. The Yard in Shadyside is hosting a drag show featuring Rosacea Noir, Tillie Gags, Agnes Senga and Luna D Lewinsky. Get $ 5 off your nearly bottomless mimosas when you buy a ticket. 8. Saturday night market, June 19th from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Visit the night markets in the market square every Saturday through October. You can stroll through a variety of local vendors, or stop and listen to the live music. 9. Movies in the Parks, June 19 at 7:30 pm Bring a blanket and some popcorn for a free showing of The Junglebook at the South Park Amphitheater. Activities start at 7:30 PM and the movie starts at sunset. Visit their website for more free movie screenings for the summer. Free Comedy Revue, June 19 at 8 p.m., Funny Noizes Productions features emerging comedy talent Mark Bosco Jr. & Sal, Anna Rose Watterson, and more. The free show starts at 8 p.m. at the Parkway Theater and Film Lounge. 11. Drive-Thru Jurassic Quest until June 20th Immerse yourself in the prehistoric land of the dinosaurs. You can get to know dinosaurs like the T. Rex, Spinosaurus, and Triceratops who will greet you right in front of your car in the Star Lake Pavilion. Tickets are $ 50 per vehicle with special pricing for extra large vehicles. 12. The Terminal Art Market, June 20th at 9 a.m. Browse over 20 local artist stalls in the Strip District Terminal. The market will take place monthly. 13. Father’s Day BBQ Brunch, June 20th at 10.30am The National Aviary is hosting a Father’s Day BBQ brunch in its garden room. In addition to an extensive menu from Atria’s, guests also receive admission to the aviary so that they can explore and get to know the birds and habitats after they have eaten. Father’s Day 14th Car Cruise, June 20th at 2pm Head to Hartwood Acres for cars, live music, food trucks and more. Father’s Day Dinner Cruise June 20th from 4pm to 6pm Celebrate Father’s Day with Gateway Clipper’s two-hour cruise on the Three Rivers. Enjoy the sights of Pittsburgh, music, and a special family buffet on Sunday 16. Yoga in the market square, June 20th at 10 am After a long week, relax with a free yoga class in the market square. Bring your own mat. 17th Pride Improv Jam, June 20th at 7pm The Arcade Comedy Theater and Donatella are hosting a queer improv jam at the True Oasis. Tickets are $ 10 per person. 18. Not So Straight Comedy Show, June 20 at 9 p.m. Have a laugh with comedians Paige Polesnak, Kayleigh Dumas, Peggy Walkush, and Joe Esch as part of the Arcade Comedy Theater’s Pride Celebration. This event at the True Oasis is for those aged 18 and over. Tickets are $ 15 per person.

    2. Pittsburgh Pirates v Cleveland Indians, June 18th, 19th and 20th
