AArt lovers and Pittsburgh proud now have a new shop where they can find locally made art and gifts.

After a year of searching for the perfect home, Pittsburgh has opened a third store in the heart of the Strip District. Located on Penn Avenue in the former Parma Sausage storefront (which has moved to the next room), the lifestyle store – which also has locations on Mount Washington and downtown – opened on October 15.

“Looking in bulk was like goldilocks,” says Kelly Sanders, who owns the love of Pittsburgh with Monica Yope. “One was too big, one wasn’t local enough, and one was just right. It was fun, we were sitting for lunch after looking at a lot and Monica kept pointing to the Parma sausage room and saying, ‘I would love to have something like that.’ ”

Shortly after the exchange, Sanders noticed a lease sign on the shop window as he drove by.

“That was definitely a coincidence,” she says.

Sanders and Yope have already built a strong relationship with new neighbors Parma Sausage, who had occupied the space for more than 40 years.

“After meeting Monica and Kelly, they exceeded our expectations and we knew that they would be a perfect match,” says Erin Schumacher, fourth generation sales manager at the family business. “Pittsburgh is both Parma sausage and love, woman-owned, supports women-owned businesses, and underscores the importance of family.”

Sanders and Yope add that they plan to partner with Parma Sausage in the future.

“We are currently working on a collaboration gift box with Parma, and more will be added,” says Sanders.

Since opening the first Love location in Pittsburgh in 2017, Sanders and Yope have tried to put local artisans in the spotlight and curate a collection of locally made, handcrafted goods for their stores.

“We were 100% Pittsburgh from the start. Our motto is “keep everything in the family,” our Pittsburgh family, “says Sanders. “We’re excited to support our artists and makers by placing more orders and growing their business.”

They also plan to expand their upscale homeware range and test new products in the Strip District’s shop.

For those who want the local party started, dear, Pittsburgh is hosting a grand opening ceremony on October 21st from 5pm to 8pm.
