PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – February 14th is a terrible day in Pittsburgh history.

26 years ago, three Pittsburgh firefighters died in a house fire in the East Hills.
Thomas Brooks, Patricia Conroy and Marc Kolenda were killed on Valentine’s Day in 1995.

They were caught in a burning house along Bricelyn Street and died together.
Gregory Brown was convicted of starting this fire, but his conviction was overturned for misconduct by the prosecutor.
Brown was released in 2016 and is awaiting a new trial.

The tragedy resulted in new procedures for firefighters in Pittsburgh.
